Subjects on Offer in our Sixth Form
Sixth Form Curriculum
The Sixth Form at Sale Grammar School offers an academic rather than vocational curriculum.
This pathway through Further Education suits most of our students in Year 11 and attracts a significant number of students from other schools in the local area. Our curriculum is designed to enable students to choose a programme of study reflecting their individual interests and aspirations. We offer an extensive range of A-Level courses as shown below.
Students are taught for 9 one hour lessons per subject over a two week timetable. Private study time is also allocated to allow students to manage the wider reading and independent learning tasks demanded of A-Level students. In addition to this, Sixth Form students will have a fortnightly Skills for Life lesson, and those in Year 12 participate in a range of Community Enrichment activities on a Wednesday afternoon.
Subjects
Students in Year 12 are required to select a minimum of three A-Level subjects; in addition to this, we require students to take either:
· An additional subject at AS level (one year of study, completed in Year 12) or
· An Academic Enrichment Course (EPQ or Core Maths)
Our Option Blocks for the 2024-2025 academic year, and subject leaflets, can be seen below to provide you with an overview of the subjects we offer. Please note that the Option Blocks are subject to change for the next academic year.
