Home Learning

The purpose of the Home Learning Guide is to provide both parents and students with key information relating to our blended home learning offer. Please be reassured that Sale Grammar School will work tirelessly to ensure that both the pastoral care and the quality of teaching and learning will be as effective as possible during remote learning days.

We understand the importance of providing structure for our students whilst learning at home.  The science behind effective teaching and learning suggests that the most effective teaching involves a blend of direct instructions from the teacher alongside periods of independent practice by the students.

  • In order for our students to manage their blended home learning we will use the Calendar available on Microsoft Teams to structure their day.  Students will follow their normal school timetable.
  • Class Team Meetings will be scheduled in the Calendar by 8:40am on remote learning days.  Students will receive a email notification of their Form Group and Class Team Meetings to their Sale Grammar School email account.
  • We will endeavour to deliver all lessons interactively through Microsoft Teams. However if a member of staff is unable to deliver a Class Team Meeting, then an appropriate classwork task, for that lesson, will be set on Satchel One.  In the event there is no work set on Satchel One then there are suggestions of other tasks students may complete to review or extend their knowledge in a particular subject area.

Should you have any questions specifically related to Home Learning, please email office@salegrammar.co.uk and we will endeavour to respond as soon as practically possible.
